Franchise Showcase: The Great American Cookies Opportunity
As part of Mrs. Fields Famous Brands family of franchises, Great American Cookies® franchisees benefit from strong name-brand recognition, collaborative marketing efforts, and a franchisee support system that is second-to-none.
Cookies are comfort food. Some studies show that the smell of cookies baking can help real estate agents sell houses, and another demonstrated that people are actually nicer to each other when they smell baking cookies. When you own a Great American CookiesŪ franchise, you can give your prospective customers a dose of aromatherapy and a sales pitch at the same time--just by popping a batch in the oven.
Store Design Shouts "Fun!"
As if the smell of freshly-baked cookies isn't enough of an attraction, the eye-catching design of the Great American Cookies store reaches out and grabs customers. Bright primary colors and bold signs shout "PARTY" to passers-by, inviting them to stop in and share the fun. Exciting point-of-purchase displays and clever marketing schemes, such as "Cookies by the Slice" and "Five for $5.55," tempt customers to indulge their cravings. Holiday promotions and gift tins entice shoppers to share additional treats with officemates, family, and friends.
Franchisees can choose from several types of store designs. In-line stores offer the largest retail selling spaces, occupying approximately 600 square feet. Kiosks require only 250 square feet, but when supported by offsite storage and preparation areas they can offer extended product lines. In-line stores are typically located in shopping malls, but kiosks can be located in malls, airports, amusement parks, office buildings, hospitals, universities, or stadiums. In-line stores and kiosk centers can also support non-baking retail units, which can range from 30 to 100 square feet.
Mrs. Fields Famous Brands Nurtures Franchisees
Great American Cookies® is a subsidiary of Mrs. Fields Famous Brands, which also operates Mrs. Fields Cookies, TCBY, Pretzel Time, and Pretzelmaker franchises. In 2004, Famous Brands eliminated all company-owned stores, enabling the corporation to focus 100% of its resources on supporting franchisees. To illustrate this commitment, the company renamed its Salt Lake City, Utah corporate headquarters the Franchisee Support Center.
Steve Russo, President and CEO of Mrs. Fields Famous Brands, states, "I believe that helping to develop successful franchisees is the bedrock of almost everything we do." This support begins with the application process and continues through site selection, construction, training, and marketing. The franchisee can send up to two individuals to Famous Brands University, receiving training in product production, cookie and cake design, business skills, customer service standards, marketing, operations, and management. The franchise fee includes the cost of this training.
A Quarter of a Century of Great American Cookies
Great American Cookies® has grown from a single Atlanta, Georgia store to a nationwide phenomenon since its 1977 founding. Its menu has also expanded from a solitary, old family recipe for chocolate chip cookies to a complete product line including a variety of cookies, brownies, cookie cakes, Big Bites, Doozies, and Colossals. With over a quarter century of proven success and the support of an industry-leading franchisor, Great American Cookies® offers franchisees a really sweet deal.
